Here’s some video I shot at the July 5th brush fire north of Los Angeles in Little Tujunga Canyon.  It was the maiden voyage for my new Canon HFS10 HD camcorder.  The video is a bit shaky for two reasons:  1. I’m learning how to shoot video again 2. The action was 1/2 to 1 [...]

We’ve updated some stuff here at FAP

First, there will be no FAP show this week since we’ve decided to try a bi-weekly format for the show. We thought that producing a show every other week instead of every week will not only give us all more time to shoot (isn’t that the whole point?) but allow us more time to create [...]

UPDATE: Facebook Comes To Their Senses (for now)

This from Facebook earlier today: “Terms of Use Update: Over the past few days, we have received a lot of feedback about the new terms we posted two weeks ago. Because of this response, we have decided to return to our previous Terms of Use while we resolve the issues that people have raised. For [...]

Facebook’s New TOS Have Photographers Bailing

I was alerted to something via Twitter this morning that concerned me greatly. Photographers by the likes of Scott Bourne are bailing from Facebook after they (FB) recently changed a couple of lines in their Terms of Service. Some very important lines at that. For all of you who post images (or anything) on Facebook, [...]

New Discussion Forum on the FAP Flickr Group Page

Hey all, The majority of the group seems to like the idea of taking our discussions over to the FAP Flickr group. We’ve been using a Google discussion forum, which is still active, for some time but it’s been very quiet lately. I’m for trying the Flickr page for a few of reasons: 1. It’ll [...]

What are you waiting for???

Well, here we are, already one week into 2009. Have you made any images yet? Responded to any incidents? Let our friend Joel Neild inspire us all with his “Project 365″. He has committed himself to make at least one image every day in 2009 and I think that’s a great idea. If [...]

FIREGROUND PHOTO T-Shirts???

As an emergency services photographer and part of the FAP family, would you purchase one of these “FIREGROUND PHOTO” T-shirts if we made them available for purchase? We’re going with a classic “job shirt” design and each shirt would likely cost around $20 + postage. With higher quantities, the cost goes down and we’d be [...]

Home for Christmas and Thankful for Plenty.

It’s Christmas day and I’m sitting in a recliner at my parents’ house watching the Lakers play the Celtics with the folks. Just taking a moment to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas. I’m fortunate enough to have people in my life that make me a better person. You know who you are. [...]

FAP Podcast has new feed URL for iTunes users.

Just a note for everyone downloading the podcast with iTunes: I’ve changed the feed URL so I can track subscriptions and stats using Feedburner. In order to include iTunes subscriptions in this I had to change the location that iTunes checks for updates (RSS feed URL). I don’t know if this is going to cause [...]

Dispelling Some Copyright Myths & My Thoughts

Here’s a link to a great article by Scott Bourne of Twipphoto.com on dispelling some copyright myths: http://twipphoto.com/archives/1554 Reading Scott’s article got me thinking. In addition to the informative comments by Scott, keep in mind that the issue of copyright can be a very complex one. Do keep in mind though, that even though your [...]
