On this episode of Fireground Action Photography (http://www.firegroundaction.com/?p=850) we're joined by our good friend Ted Pendergast (http://www.firstduephotos.com/) as we do our year-end review of some basic safety tips (http://www.ou.edu/oupd/holtips.htm) to keep you and yours safe around the holidays. We'll also provide some last minute gift ideas for the photographer in your family. Some great resources for photo-related gift ideas are Samy's (http://www.samys.com), B&H Photo (http://www.bhphotovideo.com), Adorama (http://www.adorama.com) and of course, AMAZON.COM (http://www.amazon.com/?_encoding=UTF8&tag=craigdurlingc-20&linkCode=sb1&camp=212353&creative=380561). Would your loved one enjoy or benefit from some great photo training? Check out KelbyTraining.com (http://www.kelbytraining.com) and Lynda.com (http://www.lynda.com). Even legendary avian photographer and host of the Photofocus (http://www.photofocus.com) podcast, Scott Bourne, (http://www.avianstock.com) is selling off some of his own gear (http://photofocus.com/2009/12/19/cleaning-house-gear-for-sale/). Sandisk (http://www.adorama.com/pdfs/rebates/sandiskextreme_010210.pdf) is having a huge rebate offer on compact flash cards thru January 15, 2010. Why not give support your local fire photographer and give your friends and family some nice gallery prints? Of course, you'll find some nice ideas in your hosts' galleries - Ted Pendergast (http://firstduephotos.smugmug.com/), Craig Durling (http://craigdurling.smugmug.com) and Ross Benson (http://www.firepictures.com)! Al Simmons of FirestormVideos.com (http://www.firestormvideos.com) has some fantastic fire related action and training DVDs available.

Also, now that we're deep into the holiday season, take another listen to FAP #19 (http://www.firegroundaction.com/?p=216) for reminders on this to keep in mind when covering incidents during the holidays.

Remember our friend Jim Perry via UFLAC.org (http://www.uflac.org/index.cfm?section=1), LAFRA.org (http://www.lafra.org/index.cfm?section=1) and view Craig's image gallery (http://craigdurling.smugmug.com/Fire-and-Rescue/Special-Events/Jim-Perry-Memorial-Service/10697129_FoJXF#744888170_UTqFV) from Jim's memorial service.

On this episode of Fireground Action Photography (http://www.firegroundaction.com/?p=850) we're joined by our good friends Timothy Tonge (http://www.perfectmomentphotography.com), Ted Pendergast (http://www.firstduephotos.com/) and Rick Nohl (http://www.ricknohlmedia.com/). We convene for a discussion on Adobe Lightroom (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshoplightroom/), a wonderful and user-friendly photo management and editing program that will improve any photographer's workflow. Adobe Lightroom 3 in currently in beta so we hope to speak more on that when we return to the topic in a month or two. We go under the hood in this series and get kinda techie. Don't let this scare away the new user! It's a wonderful program (which we're all still learning to use). We all use and recommend a great reference book called "Lightroom 2 for Digital Photographers (http://www.kelbytraining.com/product/the-lightroom-2-training-jump-start-program.html)" by Scott Kelby (http://www.kelbytraining.com). Scott is deeply involved with the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) (http://www.kelbytraining.com/napp/index.html) and his workshops (http://www.kelbytraining.com/online/index.html)are also worth checking out. Scott Bourne also discusses the topic frequently on his Photofocus (http://www.photofocus.com) website. Check out iTunes or your favorite podcatcher for some useful and informative audio and video podcasts on Lightroom. Some recommended podcasts are "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom", "Lightroom for Digital Photographers", "Welcome to Lightroom "2 and "Photoshop Killer Tips".

We dedicate this episode of Fireground Action Photography to our good friend, and friend of fire photographers everywhere, Jim Perry. Jim tragically lost his life in a traffic collision in Nevada on December 3rd. Jim was a retired LAFD Captain who edited the award-winning "Los Angeles Firefighter" newspaper for 40 years as well as their well known magazine "The Fireman's Grapevine". Aside from Jim's numerous accomplishments, he was always a great supporter of fire photographers and was a mentor to many. Jim, you will be missed. Rest in peace Brother. For more on Jim Perry visit his story on the LAFD blog (http://lafd.blogspot.com/2009/12/retired-lafd-captain-jim-perry-dies-in.html).

Our friends at FireCache.com (http://www.firecache.com) are still having their huge summer sale so visit their site and stock up on your fire gear!

Google Voice (http://www.google.com/voice) is now up and running so log in and get your new phone number! Read their site for details on this great service!

On this episode of Fireground Action Photography we're joined by photographers Timothy Tonge (http://www.perfectmomentphotography.com) and Ted Pendergast (http://www.firstduephotos.com/). We talk about the new Canon HFS10 (http://www.amazon.com/Canon-VIXIA-Memory-Internal-Optical/dp/B001OI2YNS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1245618562&sr=8-1) HD camcorder (Craig's new toy - uh - tool) We'll also talk about techniques and suggestions for shooting fireworks displays for the upcoming July 4th holiday, and we'll chime in on an ongoing discussion in the FAP forum (http://www.flickr.com/groups/fireground/discuss/72157613656347558/) regarding eithical issues when posting images to the web. Attorney Bert Krages (http://www.krages.com) provides some great insight via his website (http://www.krages.com) and published book specifically addressing photographers' rights.

We also read a listener email about a great (and free) incident notification service for Northern California at FireDispatch.com (http://www.firedispatch.com)

We also mentioned a great option for when gloves are a necessity but you still need to manipulate controls on your camera equipment: NOMEX FLIGHT GLOVES (http://astore.amazon.com/craigdurlingc-20/detail/B0001WCWL2)

On this episode of Fireground Action Photography we're joined by photographer Joe Brown (http://www.joebrownphotos.com). We chat about a mish-mosh of relevant topics including a cool new iPhone app called "Emergency Radio" that lets you monitor the audio streams from departments across the country, a report on a large church fire in Cambridge, Mass., a Flickr group (http://www.flickr.com/groups/fireground/) update and more. Craig debriefs a recent photo project which sparks discussion on several topics. Check out Ted Pendergast (http://www.firstduephotos.com) and Rick Nohl's (http://www.emergencyserviceimages.com) websites for images from the Cambridge church fire. Did you know that Fireground Action Photography now has it's own Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fireground-Action-Photography/75677448028?ref=nf)? Become our friend! Also, AKDave (http://www.flickr.com/photos/daveinak/) posted a link in the Flickr group to an interesting article from JEMS on EMS photography (http://www.jems.com/news_and_articles/articles/jems/3307/at_the_push_of_a_button.html).
