Following 14 days in orbit, Space
Shuttle ATLANTIS touched down on Runway 22 at Edwards Air Force Base in
California.
Space Shuttle ATLANTIS (right) glides
in for a desert landing at 300 knots while being shadowed by the
Shuttle Training Aircraft (STA) (upper left).

Heatwaves from the desert landscape blur the foreground and shuttle.


Touch Down!




NASA personnel armed with "sniffing" sensors approach the orbiter in
chemical suits to
check for any hazardous leaks before the crew exits.


Support equipment heads out to intersept the ATLANTIS

Media observers snap away as ATLANTIS coasts to a stop at the
end of Runway 22
